Royal’s School $ense sites are off to a fantastic start for the 2024-2025 school year! School $ense provides a real-life, hands-on learning experience for students in elementary, middle, and high schools.
Since its inception in 1993 at Meadowview Elementary, our signature financial education program has expanded to 30 student-run credit union locations in elementary, middle, and high schools across Royal’s footprint. Each year 350 students participate in School $ense, handling nearly 16,500 transactions across these sites with a total of $525,000 being deposited into student’s savings accounts. Students apply, interview, and receive training before starting their roles.
This year, during training we had a special guest: Katie, one of Royal’s first student team members. Katie began her journey at our inaugural School $ense location at Meadowview Elementary, and now, her 11-year-old son is following in her footsteps as one of Royal’s newest elementary school tellers. Katie shared her experiences and the valuable lessons she learned as a student teller.
