EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Royal Credit Union (Royal), along with credit unions around the world, celebrated International Credit Union Day (ICU Day) on October 15, 2020. ICU Day is organized by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) each year to raise awareness of what credit unions do to better the lives of Members as their financial partner. This year, the theme was, “Inspiring Hope for a Global Community” and to celebrate Royal asked its community members to share who inspired hope during these unprecedented times.
We were grateful to receive over 50 nominations from all over all the communities we serve. In appreciation for participation, everyone that submitted a nomination received a $10 gift card. The top 15 nominees that were selected won $50 and an ICU Day coffee mug. In the spirit of this year’s theme and as a way to give back, the winning nominees were able to choose a charity to receive a $100 donation in their name. Because of these people who inspire hope in their communities, Royal has been able to donate over $1,500 to more than 15 different non-profit organizations so they can continue to inspire hope in others.
Royal’s goal with ICU Day 2020 was to help spread a sense of hope around our communities. “Sharing stories that inspire hope is so important this year,” said Jennifer McHugh, Vice President of Community Engagement. “We were excited to provide a platform to thank individuals who are making a positive impact in their communities and also give back at the same time.” To read the nominations visit https://www.rcu.org/about-royal/news-events/news-stories/international-credit-union-day-celebration.
