Meet Hunter Vincent Hammerstad, an Associate Auditor. Hunter was drawn to Royal early in college after seeing openings for internships. After researching Royal’s culture, community involvement, and values, his interest grew. Hunter’s journey began as an Accounting and Audit Services Intern, which later led to his full-time role as an Associate Auditor.
Hunter’s experience as an intern at Royal was filled with hands-on experience and growth opportunities. Working alongside Royal’s full-time team members allowed him to see the industry from a real-life perspective. Upon transitioning from his internship to a full-time career at Royal, Hunter felt overwhelming support from Royal and his team. Although this transition is difficult for most, he felt prepared for the role because of his previous experience and responsibilities. Hunter took on various tasks typically conducted by the full-time team members throughout his internship, providing him with knowledge and confidence needed for his shift to full-time.
As an Associate Auditor, Hunter’s role involves ever-changing tasks, providing an exhilarating day-to-day experience. He conducts risk and compliance-based audits from initial planning to final reporting where he coordinates external reviews. Additionally, he collaborates with various departments across Royal to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency. The diverse nature of his career keeps him on his toes, ready for anything that comes his way.
Hunter now mentors the Audit Services Intern. Being in that same position years ago, Hunter has background knowledge and expertise to best assist the intern. One thing Hunter would like to tell all interns is to “Ask as many questions as possible to build your knowledge and grow.” Information is a never-ending resource that can take you far in life, and he would not be in this career without his willingness to learn new things every day.
